What is a micro-classroom?

Phillips Academy is a new kind of school concept that connects parents with experienced educators, called Coaches, who lead small micro-classrooms in their community and inspire imaginations.

Small groups

Phillips paid tuition and tuition-free micro-classrooms are made up of small groups of K-3rd, 4-6th, 7-9th and 10-12th grade students that learn individually and collaboratively in a mixed-age setting.

Safe & flexible environment

Kids meet in homes, dance studios, libraries, and other creative locations. These inviting spaces create a sense of safety and comfort. From the inspection of every micro-classroom location to the selection of qualified Coaches, the safety and well-being of our students is our top priority.

Collaborative Learning

Phillips Coaches create an environment in which cooperative learning can take place by first helping students feel safe, but also challenged. Second, small groups give each student an opportunity to contribute. Third, the task students work together on are clearly defined. These cooperative learning techniques help Collaborative Learning work.
